“Mini” art
As I am in the midst of holiday art season I decided to do smaller, portable, more affordable pieces of artwork to take to galleries & shows. I have about 15 in various stages of progress, with eight that are complete.

These are small (5×7 inch) versions of the larger mixed media pieces I have been making this year. Each piece is framed in a black shadow box. When I first started working in mixed media everything I made was small so it’s kind of fun to return to the smaller format for a while. They will be available at the Winter Market show at the Eiteljorg Museum on Saturday, December 6th (see my website for more details) and also at the Ho Ho Holiday Gallery on the square in Danville through December 20th (location & hours are listed on my site as well). In addition to the mixed media pieces I have been creating tree ornaments using the embossed metal, wire & beads.

The first batch is hanging at the gallery in Danville and I plan to have a selection of them ready for the Winter Market show too. I even bought a little “Charlie Brown” tree to sit on the table at the show and hang them on!
If I don’t get a chance to blog again before Thursday I would like to wish each of you a happy Thanksgiving. We all have so much to be thankful for, no matter what our circumstances!
Blessings,
Lynne

Website update
I finally got the website updated tonight, including lots of new images and info about upcoming shows. Here are two recent images that are now on the site.

I just keep going back to the “Art & Nature” series and making more. I guess even with the snow flakes I’ve seen the last few days I am not ready to let go of the colors and feel of fall!

Student artwork

Digital collage by Donna Wagner
With their kind permission I am posting some images created by students in my recent “Nature Based Art Class”. I truly enjoyed getting to know everyone who participated! Additionally it was great fun to create and share artistic ideas with a group. I hope each student had fun during the process.

It is so much fun to see how different each person’s art is! Many of the images I am posting are digital collages, created in Photoshop Elements.

Digital collage by Kimberly Lowery
As you can see, even though they all used images of nature from photos the end results were quite varied!

Moving on…
Last week I held a makeup class for students who had missed the previous printmaking sessions. It was also my last opportunity to play with the gelatin prints before I pack up the supplies and return them to storage. It has really been fun to do the printmaking projects again! During November I will be delving back into pottery/ceramics again. If you couldn’t tell by now I love to hop from medium to medium and project to project. There are always so many interesting and fun things to do I can hardly wait for the next one! I also have some more of the etched metal artwork to work on as I prepare for a few holiday shows and sale opportunities. This week will be the final week of class for the nature-based art classes. I’ve had a lot of fun meeting new people and sharing some techniques with them. I also have discovered a few ideas for new classes, as well as ways to improve the format. I will be looking at the calendar to plan for future classes, be on the lookout for details in the next few weeks. This is my favorite printmaking piece from last week’s session:
