Today included a lot of prep work for a show I’ll be hanging on Friday, photographing some finished work and beginning to assemble one final piece of art after getting it painted over the weekend. I gave my Christmas gift (a cordless drill) a workout today and added hangers/wire to 16 pieces of artwork!

Once I got the hang of using it things sure went a lot faster than the old hammer & screwdriver technique. 🙂 A few of the pieces needed to be framed before I could add the hangers/wires to them, here is a picture of “Igneous” after it was framed.

I have one other piece being professionally framed as well as two new digital triptych pieces being printed on aluminum. At least they will all be ready to hang! All of that will be (knock on wood) ready for pickup and/or delivered Friday morning. Nothing like cutting it close! I totally lost last week and suddenly found myself down to the wire…I really try to avoid putting myself in that spot but it does happen from time to time. But not nearly as much as it used to!
I also started assembling the mixed media wall sculpture with the wood I cut out a few weeks ago and painted over the weekend.

This was the beginning of the assembly, it’s much further along this evening and I hope to have it finished tomorrow. I also finished the large 3-piece mixed media art over the weekend! This morning I had time to take photos of it, I am really excited about how it turned out.

Even though I made it to hang vertically (like at the top of the post) I’ll be hanging it horizontally at the show in Plainfield due to the configuration of the hanging space. I’ve decided it really looks good either way. Be sure to mark your calendar for Sunday, February 20th – that’s when the reception will be for the show! I’ll be posting more details about it in my next post. I’d love to see you there!
