This weekend (February 13th) I have a solo show,”Art with Lots of TLC (Texture, Layers & Color)” opening at the Plainfield Public Library in Plainfield Indiana. I am excited to show my work again in this fabulous facility, the upstairs gallery space is wonderful! I am still in the process of preparing work for hanging but anticipate having around 30 pieces of work on display there, all of them created within the last six months or so – some as recently as this week! Here is a sampling of what you’ll see during the show:
One of my newest creations, “Connectivity” will be on display during this show. It consists of three canvases, each 2 x 2 foot in size. Although it may not be evident in an image this piece is filled with different textures! Some areas even resemble snake skin with a small diamond shaped pattern that was created using wire mesh.
Although I am displaying it in this newsletter as a vertical piece it will be hanging as a horizontal at the library. That’s one thing I love about abstract artwork, it’s versatility in fitting different spaces!

On the opposite end of the size spectrum are these pieces titled “Tiny Treasures”! They are all 4×4 inches, created on wood panels using many layers of acrylic paint, gesso, sand, ink & glaze. With their small size they can be hung in little spaces or used in a group to fill a larger space. Vertical or horizontal? Your choice!
A series of art I’ve been working on recently is in the digital realm, using photographs of rock and rocky terrain textures as a basis to create abstract art. I knew there was some reason I was so obsessed with taking all the images of rocks last fall when I traveled out west! It just took me a while to figure out why. 🙂 This particular piece, “Rock my World #5” has been split into a three-piece image (known as a triptych in “art-speak”) and is being printed on aluminum. I had some digital art pieces printed on aluminum last fall and they look FANTASTIC! Very glossy with brilliant colors and, best of all, the surface is very durable and wipes clean with a spritz of window cleaner and a soft towel. How easy is that to maintain?
