I thought I’d share some recent fractal creations with you today. It seems this time of year I’m drawn to bright colors as I wait impatiently for springtime. This year has been no exception, although this first piece only has a hint of spring color!
I’ve also gotten into a routine where I create three of these images at a setting. Seems like after the third my brain has had enough!
These images build, one to the next, with added layers, effects and closer details. Sometimes you can see the growth but often they end up looking totally different from their sources. I like that each is unique and stands on it’s own.
Do you have habits and routines in your creativity?
Look at this…a blog post! Amazing. Wow, what a year. I’m in that phase where you review the year, good, bad and indifferent, and start looking toward the next one. I would go out on a limb and say I’m not the only one! I can’t even begin to talk about all the changes 2013 has brought, and already I am anticipating many more in 2014. If you remember a whole year ago I had selected two words to focus on for 2013, Haven and Explore. I had no idea that my haven would be in an entirely new zip code, in a new home! Although I still have walls to paint and work to do it is more assuredly become a haven. I’ve explored things I didn’t anticipate and didn’t explore much of what I thought I would. Life is an adventure!
Although I’m still deciding on words for 2014 there are a couple that keep coming up over & over – the first being “simplify” and the next being “transform”. Have you thought of any word or words for your focus during the next year?
I’ve slowly been getting back to art and creativity, like the new fractal art at the top of the page. Somehow closing out the year with a blog post feels right too, I’m out of excuses – if I’m blogging I need to show up consistently. So here I am! Speaking of blogs, I’m a using that word “Simplify” already and, at least for this year, closing down my “Digital Art Daily” blog. I’ll leave it online as an archive for now but new digital art will be posted here.
So that’s it – my thoughts for ending and beginning of another year. I hope yours if full of love, blessings and happy surprises!
Yes, last post I was exhaling and catching my breath but that didn’t last long! Life is full of funny, unpredictable surprises and one that snuck up on me recently is that we are going to sell our home of 32 years and move. And that house also includes the current location of my studio and primary storage space for the art I’ve created. YIKES! So in addition to the cleaning of cabinets, pantries, closets and attic from a 32-year accumulation of “treasures” I also need to reduce my art supplies and artistic creations by at least 50%. Oh. My. Goodness! BUT, lucky for you, MY pain is YOUR gain!
These art pieces need a fabulous home (like yours!) to live in and to make the experience of adopting them even more enjoyable you can save on your purchases like never before and (as you can tell by the 32 year frequency of our moves) this will most likely be your only chance EVER for these kinds of savings!
I’m going to start these once-in-a-lifetime savings with a two day, online only, early bird special. I know that many of my collectors don’t live closely enough to just drive out and select their pieces in person so by doing it online I can at least level the playing field for the start of the sale. Details on how the online sale will be conducted will be posted next Wednesday and the sale starts first thing Thursday morning, June 20th! The online sale will run until midnight on Friday, June 21st. That weekend, starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 22nd the “live” sale begins here at my studio.
Art that is currently being shown in galleries is excluded, otherwise any piece listed with a price on my website is included in this sale! (I will be updating the site over the next few days to make sure everything is accurate.) Since orders of new digital/photographic artwork not currently in print and commissioned works don’t help reduce the inventory they are not on sale.
I’d love to share with you where we are moving but I haven’t a clue at this point, other than the fact that it won’t be more than an hour away from our current home – our roots are in too deep for a major move just yet. 🙂 I have made sure to negotiate a much larger studio space and perhaps, when we are settled, even adopting a dog after being without one for almost 10 years. I’m looking forward to both of those things, and enjoy the feeling of being “lighter” as I purge my way through each room. The aches and pains, meh, not enjoying them quite as much…but that’s part of the experience. Little did I know when I chose the word “Explore” for 2013 that this is what I would get into. What an adventure!
Be sure to check back next week for more details about the sale – I don’t want you to miss it!
I continue to keep busy making new digital art for my digital blog, digital+art+daily, so I am sharing a few new creations with you today.
I can seem to get away from creating fractals…I’ve made dozens over the last couple of weeks! I’m feeling the urge to return to digital drawings soon though, we’ll just have to wait & see what digital art I have to share next time!
So, I’ve taken a few small trips to nearby destinations the last couple of weeks, enjoying spring break time with my friends and family who have some time off. Although it’s not been “spring” yet, with cold temperatures and some cloudy skies, it is at least a BREAK. I’ve carried my laptop with me on my travels so I could work on some digital projects if the time and and enthusiasm showed up to do so. At least on one occasion it did! I’m still processing, combining and interpreting some of the new fractals that sprung forth but here is a small selection of new pieces to share with you today:
I hope that your spring is progressing, however slowly, into a time you enjoy! As I’m going to be gone again for a few days this week I probably won’t be posting again until next.
I’m still adding to my collection of digital art, having a blog that is set up to show a new images each day keeps me motivated! One thing I decided I would do differently starting in 2013 is to name all my digital images vs. a haphazard numbering/naming combination system. So today I am going to introduce you to “Awakening”, “Affinity”, “Align” and “Adlib” :
I’ve also been exploring with some drawing programs on my tablet, once I feel a little more comfortable with those skills I’ll share a few digital images created that way.
Although I’ve declared 2013 my year of exploration, at this point I’ve not got anything new ready to share with you. So the next few posts will be wrapping up the projects from 2012. Today I’m sharing a few new fractal images that I created in December.
Of course if you want a larger selection be sure to visit digital+art+daily, my blog dedicated exclusively to digital art, that features a new/different image each day of the year. Amazingly I made it through the first year keeping up with it, let’s see how the second year goes!
For 2013 I am going to be titling all my digital art and fractals, I’ve begun to confuse myself with the numbers, especially by starting at 1 each year…if I don’t note the year in the title as well – yikes! I spent a few hours the other day starting a list of title names to draw from.
Sorry, but these images you will have to deal with the last of the numbering system! I had fun playing with these…I’m up to three fractal programs on my computers now, plus I’ve discovered some for my tablet as well. Between all of them and a photo/digital project that I’ve put off for way too long I shouldn’t have any trouble creating a year’s worth of images.
SO the “Seven Day Giveaway” is now underway (say that three times fast!) and we have our winner from Friday, November 16th! Sam P. won by pressing the “Like” button on my Facebook Page! Congratulations!
I can’t wait to see which digital or photo art print Sam chooses! In addition to the ones show on my webpage, there are over 300 on my digital art blog. 🙂 Happy shopping Sam! Which one would YOU choose?
In case you weren’t able to make it to the Cybernated Artistry show at Sugar Creek Art Center last month here are some images of the artwork on the walls.
