A sneak peek at the new art show!

I’m just going to share a couple “teaser” images with you today, down the line I’ll share each of the new pieces up close & personal. I couldn’t be more delighted with how this show looks! Our artwork blended effortlessly and seems like they were made to show together.

It’s a fun mix with her abstract canvas work and my dimensional art! There are a lot of other art surprises included but this gives you a good feel for the show. Don’t forget that tonight is the private opening and tomorrow is the public opening/gallery walk from 5-9.

An Introduction to Web Presence & Social Media for Artists

This class is to introduce and encourage artists to use the available social media and online outlets to present and promote their work.  It will be broken into two sessions, the first session covers basic information on presenting your work online, including:

Basic information all artists need to promote their work: Resume, artist statement, bio

Photographing/Adjusting/Resizing your images for the web

Watermarking & copyright for your images

What information to include with your images

Being consistent in your efforts

Connecting with other artists, art lovers and potential clients

After an afternoon break we will spend time talking about specific sites and ways to promote your art, some topics covered will be:

Facebook Pages

Pinterest

Twitter

LinkedIN, Branched Out, Google+, etc.

Etsy & eBay

Blogs and blogs vs. websites

Image hosting sites

Online resources

You will receive multiple handouts as well as access to links & information via the internet after the class. I will be available after the session to answer any specific questions that you may have about your art, Facebook Page, blog, etc. and to schedule one-on-one tutoring sessions for those who are interested in further assistance. If you have a laptop please bring it with you!

I am also busy creating upcycled envelopes and invitations to the private opening of this upcoming show! I’ve been busy the past several months exploring different media and materials, especially things that are often discarded. Magazines, newspapers, scrap metal, styrofoam, plastic lids, old books, aluminum cans, used albums & CD’s, wood scraps, packing materials and have even found a few objects that I am not even sure what they were used for! It’s been an interesting journey but now I am narrowing my focus to a handful of those materials and producing new work especially for this show. I will continue to share peeks at the process over the next month. It has really opened my eyes to all the possible materials and genres that can be created by re-imagining and re-purposed items. I’ve even re-created some of my own artwork into something new & different!

I do hope you’ll be able to attend the show at some point during the month of June…I am really excited to share my journey with you.

The cost per person is $55 and includes all supplies & the shadow box frame. Approximately 3 hours long (6 to 9 p.m. that evening) there is a minimum of 2/maximum of 6 participants for the shadow box class.

Mandala Art II

So, in case you missed the first opportunity to attend the first “Mandala Art II” your next chance is coming soon! Thursday, September 20th from 6 to 9 p.m. at ArtSplash Gallery in Carmel, Indiana.

We will push our creativity out of the smaller “round circle in a square box” format and create some interesting art in a larger format, using the techniques learned in the “Intro to Mandala Art” class.  Once the basic design is created the addition of watercolor paints will add another element of fun to our playful art.

Intro to Mandala Art: Friday morning, August 24th

This is a morning session, from 9:30 to 11:30, held at the ArtSplash Gallery in Carmel, Indiana. The cost? Only $25, including instruction, all materials and even a custom cut mat for framing your favorite creation! This are the last Intro to Mandala Art class I will be presenting in Carmel this year. It will be followed by “Mandala Art II” class in September for those who wish to take this art form a bit further.

Time to Make Mandalas!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve presented an “Intro to Mandala Art” class. That’s changing on July 25th when I’ll host a workshop at ArtSplash Gallery in Carmel, Indiana. Although these beautiful creations look very intricate the method of creating them is really quite simple. I’ve often called them “organized doodles” – and everyone can doodle!

Starting at 6 p.m. we will work until about 8 p.m. creating several works of art during that time. The cost is only $25 per person and includes instruction, materials and even a mat to use for framing your favorite creation!

Conflicts with your dinner hour? Feel free to grab your dinner and bring it with you. Or stop in at TeaBuds right down the street and get a freshly made ice tea to stay hydrated and refreshed. Heck, I don’t mind if you bring along some wine to sip. 🙂
