I will be the featured guest artist this month at Gallery on the Square in Danville, Indiana! I delivered my artwork last week and it will be on display throughout the gallery for your viewing & shopping pleasure. 🙂 Several brand new pieces of art are included in this display, as well as other art that was recently featured at the Plainfield Public Library.
If you are looking for a perfect time to visit Hendricks County be sure to come out on Friday, April 29th and Saturday, April 30th for the “ArtsGo! Event” that features art and artists throughout the county! For details about times and site locations visit the Hendricks County Arts Council website. Don’t forget to stop by the Hendricks County 4-H Conference Center and check out my display/sale that is on view in their corridors while you are in the area.
My current photo class students & I were able to avoid the rain this weekend and take a field trip to Danville, Indiana for a photo shoot. We visited the town square, which was holding it’s annual “Geranium Festival” that day.
So in addition to the architecture and small town background there were many booths set up selling plants, foods, crafts and other items. What a nice bonus!
I will be anxious to see the images that my students captured from that morning. It’s always fun to see how differently everyone views & photographs their surroundings! It was hard not to buy up a truckload of the beautiful plants, herbs & flowers that were available that day.
I did end up with a packet of seeds for planting, a pair of earrings and a small loaf of bread before the morning was over! I hope you were able to get out and enjoy the sites & sounds over the weekend. Until next time…
P.S. If you’d like to see more images from this outing be sure to join my Facebook Fan Page!
As I am in the midst of holiday art season I decided to do smaller, portable, more affordable pieces of artwork to take to galleries & shows. I have about 15 in various stages of progress, with eight that are complete.
These are small (5×7 inch) versions of the larger mixed media pieces I have been making this year. Each piece is framed in a black shadow box. When I first started working in mixed media everything I made was small so it’s kind of fun to return to the smaller format for a while. They will be available at the Winter Market show at the Eiteljorg Museum on Saturday, December 6th (see my website for more details) and also at the Ho Ho Holiday Gallery on the square in Danville through December 20th (location & hours are listed on my site as well). In addition to the mixed media pieces I have been creating tree ornaments using the embossed metal, wire & beads.
The first batch is hanging at the gallery in Danville and I plan to have a selection of them ready for the Winter Market show too. I even bought a little “Charlie Brown” tree to sit on the table at the show and hang them on!
If I don’t get a chance to blog again before Thursday I would like to wish each of you a happy Thanksgiving. We all have so much to be thankful for, no matter what our circumstances!
