Happy Friday to you!

I was sure you’d want to know that I have the website current and refreshed. New images posted and links to new work on the front page, there’s even an entirely new page added…just waiting for you to come visit. Why should you? Well, I’m going to assume if you read this blog you like my art so over 40 new images is one reason!

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

I’ve also got an offer for you! It’s a way to show my thanks to those of you who support me as well as expand my fan base a bit. Win/Win!

Fractal #59, digital/fractal art © Lynne Medsker

I really do appreciate you supporting my art in so many different ways. Visiting galleries & shows, reading the blog, visiting the website, words of encouragement, collecting my art, liking my Facebook Page, signing up for my newsletter, taking a class and recommending me to friends. Wow, you guys are busy (and amazing), thank you!

So on to the fun stuff – I will be giving away one 8 x 10″ (or 8 x 8″ if the image is square) print of my digital and/or photo art each day from now through Thanksgiving.  Are you as excited about that as I am? I’m pretty sure I heard voices in cyberspace asking, “How will  it work, Lynne? Please tell us!”  Well, since you asked…

Each day you can enter by doing one (or more) of these things:
*Sign up/follow this blog via email – Look in right column at the top of this page, click on “Sign Me Up” and every time I write a new blog post it will arrive in your inbox so you’ll never miss a thing! Already subscribed? What about my other blog? It’s full of digital art (like the kind you could win)? Same instructions, just do it at Digital+Art+Daily instead. Or do both and you’ve gotten your first two entries submitted already!

*Go to my Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/lynnemedskerart) and click that “Like” button!

*Visit the website (www.lynnemedsker.com) and pick out an image that you’d like to win. Left click on it, then hit “Copy Shortcut” (for Windows) or ” Copy Image Address” (for Mac). Then post that image on your Facebook profile and put @Lynne Medsker Art & Photography in the description so I will see it on my page too. (Yes, I just gave you permission to copy my work…this time! Otherwise I prefer you ask first.)

*Do the same selection as listed above but post the link to the image to your Twitter account, being sure to add @lynnemedskerart in your post so I see it!

*Speaking of which, you can also enter by following me on Twitter! I’m not an avid tweeter but I do enjoy sharing interesting info and fun stuff on there when I get a chance.

*Another option is to select your favorite image(s) to add to one of your Pinterest boards. Be sure to put a mention to me in the description/comments @Lynne Medsker. Of course you’re welcome to follow my boards there too if any of them interest you. 🙂

*You can also sign up for my twice-monthly newsletter when you visit the website, there is a link to sign up at the bottom of each page.

*The last (and my personal favorite) way to enter is to (please!) tell your friends about my art and ask them to do any (or all) of the items listed above. When they do they’ll gain an entry and you will too! (Ask them to mention your name so you’ll get credit.) As an artist it can be difficult to “advertise” yourself so I am really relying on you – my family, friends, fans and fellow artists – to help me with some word-of-mouth promoting.

So that’s it! You can do any of the above items as often as you like each day (although if you are sharing my art I’d prefer you’d use a different image each time/day, please). I’ll cut off entry at midnight (Eastern time) each evening and announce the winner the following day at noon, here on my blog, as well as my Facebook page and Twitter.  (Disclaimer: I will do my best to make sure I get each entry via these different sites but can’t be responsible for missed entries, be sure to mention/tag/link me.)

I’m excited to see which of you will be winners and also which art you’ll choose! The prints will be processed and mailed the week after Thanksgiving. Thanks so much for participating and GOOD LUCK!
Lynne

Tutorial: Adding an “Interest List” on Facebook

So this morning I woke to find this message appearing on my Facebook feed from several different sources. Perhaps you did too?

Although it lists the steps to do this I always find it easier to learn things visually. If you are a visual learning (or just need a bit of help getting through these steps) I’ve taken some screen shots of the process and added a few notes on how to create and add pages to your “Interest Lists”. Please note that this only works on your personal profile and you can only add business pages, if you have a business page there is currently not a way to create these lists there.

First things first, you have to have already clicked “LIKE” for the page(s) you’d like to add. You can follow these steps on my business page by clicking here: www.facebook.com/lynnemedskerart – the page will pop up in a new window so you can go back & forth between this tutorial and my page easily. Remember the first step is to click “Like” if you haven’t already done so. (Surely you have!)

There are two different ways that you can access the controls to add a page to you list. First you can go directly to that page (like you did in the step above to access my page), you’ll get a full screen of the page and can locate the “Like” button at the top/right of the page, under the header image. If you already have “Liked” the page you can also access it through your own page by going to your personal page and clicking on your “Likes’ list. It may be one of the boxes under your header image or you may have to use the drop down menu to find it. Here’s an image of my personal page (yes, I am that goofy) with the “Likes” circled (the drop down menu is right next to it):

(click image to see larger version)

After you’ve either location your “Likes” page or gone to the actual page you’d like to add you will need to hover your mouse over the “Liked” box to access the options that will let you add the page, just hold your “pointer” over that box for a moment and wait for the options to pop up on the screen.

Here is an image of how the drop down menu should look after you hover over it:

(click image to see larger version)

You will click on the option that says “Add to Interest List”.  Once you have clicked on “Add to Interest List” option another drop down menu will appear with options for which list you’d like to add it to. In the image below I’ve created a list of local artists and art organizations that I have added pages too. (You can have multiple lists, with each being a different topic.)

(click image to see larger version)

The first time that you add a page it will give you the opportunity to create a list, you can see the “+ New List” option underneath the list I had already created (to add additional lists/categories  you would click that option as well). Once you’ve clicked on it  you will be asked for a title for the list  so choose one and then type it in the box.

Congratulations! You’ve started your first Interest List! Now just follow the same steps to add any other pages that interest you. Be sure to select the list on your home page from time-to-time to make sure you’re getting all the latest from the pages you like! You can find it in the left hand column of when you are on your home page:

Thanks for reading my blog and for your “Likes” on Facebook, I appreciate you support & interest!

Artists! Kick it up a notch!

The “Web Presence for Artists” workshop today at Sugar Creek Art Center was great! Information was flowing everywhere and, as always, I gathered some great tips as well. I loved the energy of having 10 artists together at the same time, sharing and learning! If you were unable to attend I hope to schedule another of these workshops in late September (I’ll post the info as soon as the details are worked out). In the meantime I wanted to pass along this information for you to take advantage of! Be sure to read about the limited time offers at the bottom of the page and contact me by September 5th to take advantage of those special prices. I am currently scheduling session in late September and beyond, when would you like me to help you improve your online presence?

A Special Offer – Just for Artists!

Do you “Like” me yet?

If you are a Facebook user I hope that you’ve found me there and clicked the “Like” button on my fan page! Click this link to go directly there, after that it’s just a short click on the “Like” button and you will get updates about my art, events, previews of new images and notification each time I’ve posted to the blog. How easy is that?! If you have already done that – THANK YOU!! I’d really appreciate it if you would please share the page with your friends, too.

Another way to “Like” me is right here on the blog! At the top of the page there is a “Like” button too. Anytime you read a post that you particularly enjoy, be sure to click on that button as well!

After finishing the webpage improvements & updates last week I will be heading back to the studio tomorrow. I am excited as well as a bit lost…I don’t have a specific project pending right now. I’ll be free to create whatever strikes my fancy! Which sounds wonderful but there are so many things I think I’d like to do it will take me a bit to decide which one to choose. 🙂 I guess that’s not a bad dilemma to have though, is it?

Chat again soon!

Get the whole picture!

Morning fog & sunrise (image 7) 3-8-10 (c) Lynne Medsker

Dear Blog Readers,

Today I wanted to tell you a story about a very wonderful person who was kind enough to read my blog. (That’d be YOU, by the way!) They stopped by on a regular basis and were nice enough to even leave a comment or two when the mood struck them.  What they hadn’t done yet was joined my “Fan Page” on Facebook.  “Why would I need that?” they wondered to themselves. “I read the blog, even visit the website, what else could there be?” And this is what I’d tell them. You would get just a bit MORE of what you are already enjoying!

Morning fog & sunrise (image 3) 3-8-10 (c) Lynne Medsker

Take for instance, the images in today’s blog post. These were taken last week during an early morning when the fog was thick and the sun was just peeking over the horizon.  First off, you’d know the images were coming because I put a comment up about being unable to resist going out to take the photos in the early morning fog – even if I were in my pajamas! And then, later that day, you’d get to see a nice selection of the photos.  Not just a few, like I post on my blog, and not just the one or two that might be selected for inclusion on the webpage. Oh, no…you’d get MORE.  And don’t we all like more? (Perhaps I should have titled today’s post “Get ALL the pictures”!)

Another benefit of signing up for my Facebook Fan Page, is that when the blog is updated, you’ll get notified.  When the website is updated, you’ll get notified. When there’s an exhibit, show, article, class, workshop or other exciting information, well yes, you’ll get notified! Many times things are posted on the fan page before they appear anywhere else. And, if you’re ever curious what I’m up to, I even post updates about that from time to time.

SO, to recap –  Fan Page = MORE.  MORE = GOOD!  Join the fun today!
