There are lots of opportunities for being creative and I’ve been on a quest to fit it in the schedule whenever possible. One of the biggest time slots that seem to be unproductive in my day are evenings. I used to spend a lot of time in my office on the computer working on projects but heard on more than one occasion about how unsociable I was becoming so I returned to the living room sitting in front of the television. I have trouble just sitting so I’ve adapted projects to work on while I am couch-bound for a few hours. 🙂 This is my current set-up as I’m working on magazine pages:
It’s true, everyone LOVES something free! And, since I’m just nice like that, I happen to have one for you today! You are welcome to download this line drawing to use for coloring, painting, zentangles, digital artwork, collage, whatever strikes your fancy. Of course there IS a catch…
“Spiral Tree” – how will you get creative with it? Click image for full size downloadable file!
The only thing I ask is that once you are finished having fun with it, please take a moment to snap a picture of your creation and post it on my Facebook Page so I can see it. I’m excited to see what everyone ends up doing with it!
On Monday, July 2nd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. I will be holding a “Mixed Media Wall Sculpture” workshop at my studio. What a nice way to get a little creativity in your summer!
All materials are included but if you have found objects or other treasure you’d like to incorporate into your sculpture you are more than welcome to bring them! Cost per person is $95 – sign up with a friend and you will each get a discount. Class size is limited to 6 participants so be sure to sign up early!
Just to remind you that it’s only a few days until the next “Open Studio” workshop! Celebrate Earth Day a few days late and come on by to create a journal using recycled materials!
I have been busily creating new artwork to feature in this fun show! Be sure to stop and visit during the “Meet the Artist” Open House on Saturday March 3rd from 2:00 pm -5:00 pm – I look forward to sharing my new creations with you then!
Also sign up for this fun evening of art: Layers and Lattes: Friday March 9th from 6:30 pm-9:30 pm, Cost $30
Enjoy a Latte and create your own mixed media collage with artist Lynne Medsker (me!) – reservations are filling up and space is limited, contact the gallery to sign up before it’s too late!
That’s right! Today is the anniversary of my first blog post on January 20th, 2008! Four years, 562 posts, 1022 comments and 336 subscribers later, here I am! Still blogging away, plus starting a new digital art blog this year. I don’t think I imagined I’d do this much with it but it sure has been fun! I re-posted the image from my first entry today, on that post it is very tiny and I was excited to even have gotten that much figured out. 🙂 Heck, I’m still figuring out things!
Thanks for reading, commenting and passing this blog along to your friends. Your support and feedback are awesome!
I am delighting in my time here in Michigan! Work is flowing and I am finding a wonderful rhythm to my days. Waking, working, resting, eating all fall into place so easily when I am in a creative space such as this! I have attempted to attach an image of a new mandala that I finished today. I’ve skipped around from assembled pieces, mini shadow box art, large canavses and creating on paper quite happily. Thursday there will be a small reception to show my work so the next two days will be busy finishing up pieces in different stages and getting them all ready to show. I will be sure to post photos once I have everything hung up!
As I type this I am sitting in a 300 square foot studio space near Lake Michigan. I arrived on Sunday and am delighting in the time and space to just be creative without distractions. I’m (hopefully) attaching an image of a couple canvas pieces I started yesterday. Primarily I’ve been working on constructing mixed media but the canvas has been a fun side project to play with as other work dries. I will post some progress images from time to time but my access to the internet is via my phone so its a bit of a process to accomplish. I also scheduled periodic posts to appear while I am away. I am so thankful to be here, to my hosts and to my husband for being “in charge” of the home and family while I am away!
