Holiday Greetings!

online christmas card

I hope everyone is enjoying the hustle & bustle of the holiday season…and also finding a bit of time to relax and reflect on the events of the year. I still have boxes of decorations to unpack and set out and gifts to create and wrap but today, for whatever reason, I feel like I’m over the “hump” (on a Wednesday – go figure!) and on the downhill slide with everything. This has been a crazy year with lots of changes in my life (that seems to be more and more what a “normal” year is for me!) and I’m looking forward to whatever 2015 brings along.

I wanted to thank you for following my sporadic blog postings and let you know I really do hope to do a more consistent job of it next year. I’ve got plenty of art to share, dedicating the time to share it seems to be my stumbling block. 🙂

Warm hugs,
Lynne

P.S. If you’re looking for a last-minute gift I have my gift-certificate available at a 30% discount through the end of the year. Use coupon code HOLIDAY30 on my website to purchase.

Exploring possibilities

So, in my last post I explained that I had chosen not one, but two, words to focus on in 2013. Although the first word I shared, HAVEN, is something I want to create for myself it really is more of a “project” type word than a focus for the year. What popped into my mind immediately when I thought about choosing a word for the year was EXPLORE. I love that word! So full of possibilities, with so many different areas in life it can apply to! Again, I jotted down a list of words that I felt attached themselves to EXPLORE and then created a piece of word art from them. wordle, explore

I love how it turned out! Although there are some controls when making one of these “Wordles” the website randomly generates much of the images. It took several tries before this one came into being, once I saw that “Love, art, life” were surrounded by the larger “explore” I knew it was the one I would use. I plan on printing it out and hanging it here & there throughout my home & studio, tucking it into journals and just letting it inspire me throughout 2013. It makes me feel as if I am going on a grand adventure, I can hardly wait! Of course I’ll share my artistic explorations and teachings (I’ve been gearing up for several new projects in those areas) but I will also share some of the bits & pieces of my other explorations as well. I expect you all to hold me accountable…if I start to seem stale and boring you best tell me to get exploring! 🙂

What do you look forward to exploring this year?

Words and Intent

I know many people make their resolutions this time of year but I’ve never been a fan of them. Why set myself up in a situation than often ends in failure?! I had read a year or two ago that some people choose a word to focus on for the upcoming year and I really like that idea instead. This year I ended up with two words and, since I don’t think there are any hard & fast rules to these sort of thing, I’m using them both. My mind has been whirling at an even faster pace the last few days (something I don’t really appreciate as I lay awake at night listening to it) and for some reason I am really excited about the possibilities for the upcoming year. I’m also in one of those moods where I want to move all the furniture around the house, re-do my studio (I’ve actually started that process already) and the BIG thing I really want to create this year is a HAVEN. Not to say that I don’t have a comfortable home I just have times that I want to escape. As I’m not independently wealthy at this time I can’t just up and travel at the drop of a hat. But I still have that yearning to go somewhere and be alone. So, HAVEN was one of the words I chose. I had fun thinking of words that describe what I am seeking, then I used the “Wordle” program and created this image:wordle, haven

At the bare minimum the spot I’m thinking of creating my haven in could stand a fresh coat of paint. There are lots of other ideas dancing in my head but that will be the first step. I’ll keep you posted through out the year as I begin the process of bringing this desire into reality! Curious about the other word I’ve selected for 2013? I’m saving that for the next post. 🙂

What word (or words) would you choose to focus on during the new year?
