Happy New Year!
I hope that your 2011 was a wonderful one and you are looking forward to what 2012 holds in store. I love the possibilities that a fresh new year offers!
The only part of the new year that I’m not fond of is getting through the winter weather, lack of daylight and those long, cold nights. Do you feel the same way? It seems like being indoors for the bulk of my day makes me look for bits of sunshine & happiness in whatever room I happen to occupy at the time. Of course you know where I often find it, don’t you? Yup – ART! I’ve been blessed to trade, barter and purchase pieces from many artists so that my walls are full of interesting, colorful art that help to chase around the doldrums of winter.
I’d like to help you chase away your winter blues as well! I’ve got a special offer for January & February with discounts on my art as well as a special “adoptable art” area for some special pieces that need a good home. Click here to visit the “Winter 2012 Offer” page and then call or email me so we can arrange to get some art into your home or office an banish that winter state of mind.

Another Blog for 2012!
Digital art can take many forms from artwork “painted” entirely by digital means, to fractal art (based on mathematical algohrythms), photo-based images that have been altered by digital means and also digital collage that combines these creative methods with photos, clip art, text and other images.
I’ve been creating digital art for almost 10 years and have files full of images on my computer that rarely are seen. To give them a bit of “life” outside of a file folder I’ve started this new blog that will have a digital art image posted to it each day. I hope to expand the blog to include images and information about other digital artists as well. Click on the image above to visit the new blog and get a quick digital art fix for the day!
This year I have two solo art shows scheduled that will focus on my digital art. I will be coordinating a digital art show in August in conjunction with my solo show at Sugar Creek Art Center so I anticipate spending a lot of time with pixels!
Although I still had a few items left I wanted to create some more small art pieces to give away in drawings and contests for my email newsletter subscribers. I liked the idea of creating art just for the fun of giving it away! Here are images of the steps during their creation:

The website is revamped and up-to-date! Woo, hoo! I am so happy to have it up & running. I may still tweek it a bit here & there but for the most part I am happy. Please spend a few moments exploring the new pages by clicking this link: www.lynnemedsker.com. The first of two big changes is a name change for the site, previous titled “Artwork by Lynne” it’s now “Lynne Medsker Art & Photography” which is the business name I’ve used for the past couple of years. I’m finally getting everything in synch! The second change is related to getting things in synch as well, instead of having two websites (one for art and one for photography) I have merged the portrait photography information into this website. I will be de-activated the photo site soon. I am excited to have everything streamlined into one place – check out the portrait photography info and slide shows located on the portfolio page!
Be sure to check the “Classes” page too, I’ve added more media and creative fun for you to have. See something interesting? Call or email and we’ll schedule a class!
I am getting so anxious for spring! As the month of March is looming on the calendar I know it can’t be far away. Yet I am looking out my window at snowflakes lazily falling to the ground today. Sigh! In the meantime I have been doing some pre-spring cleaning of my website.
Along with a much needed update of images and info it’s getting a makeover as well. Changing around the way portfolios are accessed, organizing things in a (hopefully) better flowing manner and just generally spiffing it up. The biggest change will be that I am eliminating the separate website for portrait photography and blending it in with my art site! Selecting, uploading and creating the pages for all the portrait images has been more time consuming than I ever imagined! It has been well over a month that I’ve been working on it but we’ve hit many bumps in the road at our house, from ice storms to the flu being passed around (twice!) and even the loss of a parent.
I am back at work on all the revisions now and hope to have it finished within a week (she says hopefully!). Since my show is now up at the Plainfield Library I am taking a short break from studio work to focus my creative energies on getting this project finished. Then I can start working on some new art for a show in April!
I’m so glad I have this blog to keep people up to date on events while the website is languishing…one of my goals (once it’s finished) is to do bi-weekly updates of the site so that it won’t get stale and outdated again. In the meantime be sure to check back here for current news and also for the announcement of the big “unveiling” when the site is finally updated.
Okay, I have to admit I was inspired by all the Black Friday sales that are everywhere at the moment. Why not have one myself?! But the more I thought about it I believe it’s more like an art adoption program. Just like retired greyhounds, they’ve been around the circuit a time or two but they’ve got lots of good years left to be loved & appreciated. Won’t you consider giving them a home? You can view this selection of over 40 framed & ready-to-hang pieces of art on my website. There is a link on the home page as well as the portfolio page or just click HERE. Be sure to tell your friends & family to check out the sale too! It ends November 30th – don’t miss it!!
