Indiana Artisan Spotlight

March brings a feature of eleven select Indiana Artisan works at Art on Main Gallery & Gifts in Carmel, Indiana. They have filled their walls and shelves with an assortment of amazing work. I’m proud to have my batik artwork included.

Art on Main is featuring an exhibit/ sale by Indiana Artisans. Indiana Artisan is the state’s official organization that recognizes the work of Indiana’s highest-quality art and food artisans. Art on Main will be presenting art and food items from 12 Indiana Artisans.

I delivered several new (and one classic) pieces of artwork for this feature, including these three pieces below that are fresh out of the studio! If you’re looking for a great night out the gallery is going to have a special hours this Saturday, March 9th from 5-9 pm during the “Meet Me on Main” monthly gallery walk. Be sure to visit!

The feature at Art on Main opened today, March 5th and will continue through the end of the month – which leads up to the annual Artisan Marketplace on Sat, April 6 from 10am – 6pm and Sun, April 7 from 10am – 5pm in the Expo Hall Building at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Only once a year, the state’s highest-quality Artisans come together — at the Indiana Artisan Marketplace. Talk with artisans at the top of their craft, recognized by the state for their exceptional art and food. Taste their wines and foods, see what makes them the best, and take advantage of the opportunity to take home some of their outstanding work made in studios, workshops and kitchens here in the Hoosier State.

I won’t have a booth at the Marketplace this year but will have artwork featured in the “All IN” exhibit which runs parallel to the Marketplace and features a display of products and art from Artisans who want to participate. As you enter the Marketplace you’ll be able to enjoy “All IN” as you make your way to visit the Artisan booths. I’m also on the “All IN” committee this year so you might well see me there when you visit the Marketplace.

I have several other new batik pieces finished and in process right now, I’ll share them in my next post! Till then….

A sneak peek at the new art show!

I’m just going to share a couple “teaser” images with you today, down the line I’ll share each of the new pieces up close & personal. I couldn’t be more delighted with how this show looks! Our artwork blended effortlessly and seems like they were made to show together.

New Work! November at ArtSplash Gallery

I’m excited to be sharing the main gallery space at ArtSplash Gallery in Carmel, Indiana, during the month of November with the talented Lynn Andalman! We’re jokingly calling it the Lynn & Lynne show. 🙂 I’ve been busy creating new work with a focus on wood, stone & metal. It’s more sculptural than some of my previous work and I’ve been having a lot of fun exploring the shapes, textures and colors I’ve been using.

From the artists –

Lynne Medsker:
“I was asked recently what I loved as a child. The question brought memories of collecting rocks and other items in an old shoe box when I was young. Some were from treasured trips to local creeks to collect geodes, fossils and river rocks. Others were merely gravel from our driveway that I’d used my Prang watercolor set and painted pretty pastel colors! Special trips to the local rock shop, where I would spend much longer than my parents would have preferred, selecting just the right stone added to my collection. Those happy memories, along with a collection of driftwood, rocks and items that I have collected as an adult (to make something with “someday”) are what inspired this artwork. I hope you enjoy these new creations as much as I have enjoyed creating them!”

Lynn Andalman:
“After my trip to South Africa and surrounding areas, color and content seems to be bursting at the seams. There doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day to complete what I have to give to the canvas. Looking forward to sharing all things new & wonderful!”

We’ll have some delicious treats and libations to celebrate the show during the Private Opening, Friday, November 7th, 2014 from 6 – 9 p.m. If you can’t make it then be sure to attend the Public Opening/Monthly Gallery Walk, Saturday, November 8th, 2014 from 5 – 9 p.m. Of course you can always visit during normal gallery hours as well.  ArtSplash is located at 111 W. Main Street, Suite #140, Carmel, IN 46032.

Taking a deep breath and…..

Whoosh! Exhale. The solo show is up at ArtSplash Gallery in Carmel, Indiana and I feel like I’ve got a little time to breath.  I’m still trying to clean and re-organize the studio after two months of cranking out new work, I’ve got a bit of a deadline for that since this Saturday is the Second Saturday Open Studio Tour as part of the Hendricks County Cultural Trail. In the meantime I’ve been playing a bit, digitally, with some items I’ve not done for a while. Today I thought I’d share a few digital kaleidoscopes I’ve created the last week.

I will, eventually, get around to sharing all the fun and funky upcycled/repurposed art from the show but that takes some photo editing and right now I’m not quite ready to tackle that task!

I hope that your summer is off to a fantastic start, enjoy all that it has to offer.

Solo Art Show “RE: IMAGINED, CREATED, PURPOSED”

LOOK! My postcards arrived yesterday!

I am also busy creating upcycled envelopes and invitations to the private opening of this upcoming show! If you will be in the Indianapolis area on June 1st and would like to be invited to the private opening please send an email with your mailing address to info@lynnemedsker.com and I would be honored to send you an invitation.

I’ve been busy the past several months exploring different media and materials, especially things that are often discarded. Magazines, newspapers, scrap metal, styrofoam, plastic lids, old books, aluminum cans, used albums & CD’s, wood scraps, packing materials and have even found a few objects that I am not even sure what they were used for! It’s been an interesting journey but now I am narrowing my focus to a handful of those materials and producing new work especially for this show. I will continue to share peeks at the process over the next month. It has really opened my eyes to all the possible materials and genres that can be created by re-imagining and re-purposed items. I’ve even re-created some of my own artwork into something new & different!

I do hope you’ll be able to attend the show at some point during the month of June…I am really excited to share my journey with you.

Blessings,

Lynne

I just delivered artwork for this show, including several new works that will be debuting for the first time – I’ve not even shown them online. I’m excited to be sharing them during this great event! Look for them to have their online preview soon.  Of course I’m hoping you can’t wait and will be at the event this weekend! I will be attending on Friday evening and look forward to seeing all the amazing art.
