Happy Friday to you!

Digital Mandala 43 © Lynne Medsker

I was sure you’d want to know that I have the website current and refreshed. New images posted and links to new work on the front page, there’s even an entirely new page added…just waiting for you to come visit. Why should you? Well, I’m going to assume if you read this blog you like my art so over 40 new images is one reason!

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

I’ve also got an offer for you! It’s a way to show my thanks to those of you who support me as well as expand my fan base a bit. Win/Win!

Fractal #59, digital/fractal art © Lynne Medsker

I really do appreciate you supporting my art in so many different ways. Visiting galleries & shows, reading the blog, visiting the website, words of encouragement, collecting my art, liking my Facebook Page, signing up for my newsletter, taking a class and recommending me to friends. Wow, you guys are busy (and amazing), thank you!

So on to the fun stuff – I will be giving away one 8 x 10″ (or 8 x 8″ if the image is square) print of my digital and/or photo art each day from now through Thanksgiving.  Are you as excited about that as I am? I’m pretty sure I heard voices in cyberspace asking, “How will  it work, Lynne? Please tell us!”  Well, since you asked…

Each day you can enter by doing one (or more) of these things:
*Sign up/follow this blog via email – Look in right column at the top of this page, click on “Sign Me Up” and every time I write a new blog post it will arrive in your inbox so you’ll never miss a thing! Already subscribed? What about my other blog? It’s full of digital art (like the kind you could win)? Same instructions, just do it at Digital+Art+Daily instead. Or do both and you’ve gotten your first two entries submitted already!

*Go to my Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/lynnemedskerart) and click that “Like” button!

*Visit the website (www.lynnemedsker.com) and pick out an image that you’d like to win. Left click on it, then hit “Copy Shortcut” (for Windows) or ” Copy Image Address” (for Mac). Then post that image on your Facebook profile and put @Lynne Medsker Art & Photography in the description so I will see it on my page too. (Yes, I just gave you permission to copy my work…this time! Otherwise I prefer you ask first.)

*Do the same selection as listed above but post the link to the image to your Twitter account, being sure to add @lynnemedskerart in your post so I see it!

*Speaking of which, you can also enter by following me on Twitter! I’m not an avid tweeter but I do enjoy sharing interesting info and fun stuff on there when I get a chance.

*Another option is to select your favorite image(s) to add to one of your Pinterest boards. Be sure to put a mention to me in the description/comments @Lynne Medsker. Of course you’re welcome to follow my boards there too if any of them interest you. 🙂

*You can also sign up for my twice-monthly newsletter when you visit the website, there is a link to sign up at the bottom of each page.

*The last (and my personal favorite) way to enter is to (please!) tell your friends about my art and ask them to do any (or all) of the items listed above. When they do they’ll gain an entry and you will too! (Ask them to mention your name so you’ll get credit.) As an artist it can be difficult to “advertise” yourself so I am really relying on you – my family, friends, fans and fellow artists – to help me with some word-of-mouth promoting.

Look Inside, Digital Collage © Lynne Medsker

So that’s it! You can do any of the above items as often as you like each day (although if you are sharing my art I’d prefer you’d use a different image each time/day, please). I’ll cut off entry at midnight (Eastern time) each evening and announce the winner the following day at noon, here on my blog, as well as my Facebook page and Twitter.  (Disclaimer: I will do my best to make sure I get each entry via these different sites but can’t be responsible for missed entries, be sure to mention/tag/link me.)

I’m excited to see which of you will be winners and also which art you’ll choose! The prints will be processed and mailed the week after Thanksgiving. Thanks so much for participating and GOOD LUCK!
Lynne

P.S. Those steps above in BOLD? They are great for helping any person or business that you enjoy and support. Just to recap them:
Sign-up/Follow their blogs
“Like” their pages on Facebook
Share their information/images/posts on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other social media sites
Sign-up for their newsletters (then forward them to your friends!)
Tell your friends! If you’ve found something you enjoy there’s a good chance your friends will too!

Late night creativity

I spend a few hours on the couch each evening, being social with my family, watching television and just relaxing. Except I can’t stand to just SIT and do nothing! (Face it, 99% of the reason we watch t.v. is so we have an excuse to sit & do nothing!) So I’ve got a stash of Suduko books, crossword puzzles and – most importantly – my laptop nearby. I enjoy spending time surfing the web, socializing on Facebook, catching up on emails and doing a bit a tweeting on Twitter. But evenutally I end up using the time to edit photos or, as the case has been lately, creating digital art. I’ve been on a fractal art kick recently – these are two new images from the past week.

Last night I switched it up and made a digital collage, which I haven’t done in quite some time.

I have to admit that I really enjoyed doing something a bit different. I guess I’ll know how much I enjoyed it by what follows during my next evening on the couch! I never pre-plan so whatever happens will just happen…which is something else I enjoy about these late night creativity sessions.

Recent Photo/Digital Artwork

I thought I’d change things up today and post some photo/digital artwork! These were all made with images of texture in nature – edited, layered & blended, with digital details and highlights added.

For the last image I’m also going to share the original photos that were used in it’s creation.

Can you find bits & pieces of each photo in the end result shown below?

Shades of blue

untitled digital mandala © 2011, Lynne Medsker

Another short Friday post! Seems that by the time Friday is here I’m short on time to write, but at least I have a new image to share with you! This is another digital mandala, I didn’t realize until I’d finished it that the last one featured a lot of blue too. I created this by layering photos of three other hand-drawn mandalas, I hadn’t tried that before. There is always so much new to try & explore, I anticipate being able to spend some time in the studio this weekend doing just that!

Until Monday,

Lynne

Feathers

"feathers" photo/digital collage © 2011, Lynne Medsker

I had a little quiet time on a hot afternoon so creating in front of the computer in the nice air conditioning seemed like a perfect idea. Not quite sure what prompted me to think of feathers but I pretty much had them on my mind before I even began. From there it was just arranging and playing with the layers of images and colors until I was pleased.

I hope you are finding some activities to keep cool & comfortable. I hear a drop in temperatures is coming this weekend, I am anxious to be outside and enjoy some shade & breezes. I am also anxious to get into the studio and make some art – it’s been TOO long! Life has been getting in the way but I am seeing some openings in this crazy schedule. Look for new creations soon.

Lynne Medsker: International Artist!

"rock my world #5" digital art triptych, printed on aluminum © Lynne Medsker

Woot!! Cool news from the weekend, I have two sets of digital art traveling to their new home in England today.  These pieces were part of the new art display at ArtSplash Gallery in Carmel, Indiana for the month of June, even if they didn’t get to stay there long. 🙂 Printed on aluminum, each piece was 10″x 20″ and covered an area of 32″ x 20″ when hung together.

I loved the bright colors and the way they seemed to pop off of the aluminum! I have had several pieces printed on aluminum, it is beautiful, lightweight and maintenance is a breeze. I hope the new owners will be as excited about them as I am! Although I am a bit jealous that my art is traveling and I am not. 🙂

Happy Monday,

Lynne

It’s back – Retro Friday!

It’s been a LONG time since I’ve done a Retro Friday post! And a long time since I’ve posted any Artist Trading Cards (ATC’s). SO…why not do both at once? Although most of the ATC’s I’ve done have been hand crafted I have done some digitally, which is what I decided to feature on the blog today – just for fun! With the exception of a card I created for a “Children” themed swap these all feature a variety of vintage photos. I’ve got literally hundreds of these vintage images to play with, it’s always fun to pull some out and get creative. Several of these cards had other little embellishments added to them after they were printed. I still have some of each design if anyone wants one or wants to do a swap I am up for it! Just leave a comment on this post or send me an email. Enough chatter…on to the images:

"joy of a child" artist trading card © Lynne Medsker

I have to admit the last one is my favorite!

If you are curious about ATC’s there is information about it on my website, as well as link to other sites with info on how they are made. I haven’t done an ATC class for a while but they are a really great activity for a group of friends, keep it in mind next time you & your friends are looking for something to do!

I hope to see many of you at the opening reception for my show in Plainfield this Sunday, have a great weekend!

Lynne
